Ma Yir’s patches frequently used interesting hardware like The Pipe or Buchla equipment. Always creative, sometimes droney and sometimes chitinous and scurrying, he was a true synthesist with a soft spot for calm and ritualistic polyrhythms. This month theme can be a time to explore drones, timbres, space, sci-fi sounds (Ma Yir loved the Sci-Fi July theme), West-Coast synthesis techniques, or anything else inspired by Ma Yir.
